Old items on sale in Davenport this weekend helped a "new" cause in the Quad Cities.

The first "Not Quite New Ground Sale" raised money for the New Ground Theatre Company in the Village of East Davenport.

The group - in its 12th season - performs contemporary and original shows, including those by local playwrights.

The sale took place in the company's home - the Village Theatre in the Village of East Davenport.

"We are doing a lot of fundraising to buy the building," says Chris Jansen, from New Ground Theatre. "That kind of leaves us shorter on programming money, so the money to produce the plays and the money to do the playwrights festival and all that."

Organizers say this weekend's sale raised several hundred dollars and they hope to another one around the Christmas season.
