UPDATED:  Police said a man died at a Davenport, Iowa home from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot.

Mario Lira and several other people were inside a home in the 1500 block of West 16th Street when the shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012.

Lira was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said alcohol was involved in the incident.

One man is dead after a shooting in Davenport on Friday, October 12th.

Police say they responded to a report of a shooting around 9:15pm at 1538 W. 16th Street in Davenport. When officers arrived at the house, they found 36-year-old Mario Lira in the basement of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there were a number of people in the residence at the time of the shooting and many had left before officers arrived. Lira was visiting and did not live at the residence.

Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians worked through the night investigating the scene and locating and interviewing people who were at the residence.

At this point, Police say they believe the shooting may have been an "accidental discharge."
