The wife of convicted killer Nicholas Sheley will testify at his upcoming trial, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Holly Sheley was arrested August 17 on felony heroin charges. Circuit Judge F. Michael Meersman said Tuesday he is concerned she may recant earlier testimony that Nicholas Sheley’s drug addiction was motive for his alleged killing spree, according to the Quad-City Times.

Sheley is accused of killing eight people in June 2008. He was convicted in August 2011 of first-degree murder in the death of Ronald Randall. Sheley was sentenced to life in prison in that case.

His current trial in Whiteside County is set to start October 22, 2012. He faces first-degree murder charge in the death of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling.
