Police arrests suspect in Clinton school burglary

Police have arrested a man in connection with an early Monday morning break-in at Lincoln Alternative School in Clinton.

At approximately 1:00am Monday morning, Clinton Police responded to an alarm at 1850 S. Bluff Boulevard.

When officers arrived they found a broken window and heard glass breaking on the south side of the school. Police found Alexander Ruiz walking east on the 1800 block of 13th Avenue South. According to police reports, Ruiz fled from officers and hit one officer in the chest with a crowbar before being apprehended.

Ruiz faces several charges including: Assault on a Police Officer, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Interference with Official Acts, Possession of Burglary Tools, along with outstanding warrants from Johnson and Scott counties and the City of Bettendorf.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton Police Department.
