The new alderman representing Moline’s 2nd Ward will be David Parker Jr.

Parker will replace Rick Meredith, who resigned from the position September 11, 2012.  His resignation was reportedly because he was planning to relocate outside of his ward.

QCOnline reported the resignation was a surprise to the rest of the city council.

Moline Mayor Don Welvaert announced October 3, 2012 the appointment of Parker to complete Meredith’s current term.

Parker and his family have lived in Moline for seven years.  He is a realtor with Century 21 Cornelis-Simpson, Inc.

“I look forward to serving the residents of the 2nd Ward,” Parker said, “and am excited about continuing the progress already in motion.”

The council is expected to approve the appointment and Parker will be sworn in at the October 9, 2012 city council meeting.
