Nearly 50 cats were seized from this home in Sioux City, Iowa after neighbors began complaining of a strong odor coming from the house.

A Sioux City, Iowa home appeared to be abandoned except for nearly 50 cats living inside.

KMEG reports the cats were seized by authorities after neighbors complained to their local animal adoption and rescue center.   A strong odor was reportedly coming from the home.

Neighbors said no people had been seen around the home in more than two months.

It took six people several hours to capture all of the cats, and neighbors said not all of the animals were seized.

The Sioux City Animal Adoption & Rescue Center planned to make cats suitable for adoption available after any legal issues were resolved.
