A man believed to have robbed bank branches inside three HyVee stores in our area is also considered a suspect in four other Illinois and Wisconsin robberies.
The suspect allegedly struck most recently at the HyVee in Milan, Illinois where he reportedly robbed the American Bank branch September 26.
The same man is believed to have robbed the Valley Bank branch inside the Bettendorf HyVee September 14 and the Wells Fargo Bank branch inside the Avenue of the Cities HyVee August 20.
“It appears a series of bank robberies in Edwardsville and Collinsville, Illinois, along with Janesville and Kenosha, Wisconsin are connected to our suspect,” said Moline Police Detective Scott Williams.
In all cases, the robber allegedly handed the teller a note demanding money and stating he had a gun. No weapon was reportedly displayed in any of the robberies. All of the alleged robberies occurred during daytime hours.
Here’s the reported timeline of robberies that police say are connected to the same suspect:
July 30, 2012: Community State Bank in Paddock Lake (Kenosha County), Wisconsin robbed at about 2:30 p.m.
August 20, 2012: Wells Fargo Bank inside HyVee on Avenue of the Cities in Moline, Illinois robbed just before 2:30 p.m.
August 23, 2012: First National Bank in Rock Township, south of Janesville, Wisconsin was robbed at 9:14 a.m.
August 30, 2012: U.S. Bank inside Schnucks grocery store in Edwardsville, Illinois was robbed at about 1:30 p.m.
August 30, 2012: U.S. Bank in Collinsville, Illinois robbed at about 2:15 p.m.
September 14, 2012: Valley Bank branch inside HyVee in Bettendorf, Iowa robbed just after 12:30 p.m.
September 26, 2012: American Bank inside a HyVee in Milan, Illinois robbed just before 1 p.m.
