Men sought for local home repair scam

Police say they’ve identified two men who were trying to scam local homeowners.

Police say they’ve identified two men who were trying to scam local homeowners.

East Moline Police said warrants are out for 51-year-old Scott Miller and 30-year-old Patrick Miller, both of Lincoln, Nebraska.

The men reportedly used a Nebraska address when they stayed in local hotels.

The two men are accused of offering small home repair services to area residents, then inflating the price to thousands of dollars demanded when the work was done.

Police issued earlier warnings about the scam in August 2012.

The two men were reportedly identifying themselves as being with Above the Rest Tree Service.

The warrants charge each of the men with aggravated home repair fraud, alleging they entered into an agreement with a victim under false pretense or false promises.

The two men may have left the Quad Cities area.  East Moline Police said they are working with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the men, and that the warrants are extraditable nationwide.
