The Quad Cities River Bandits are now officially part of the Houston Astros organization.

The announcement of the new deal came at a news conference held Monday afternoon, September 24, 2012.

The Astros were one of three possible new parent teams for the club after the St. Louis Cardinals did not renew their deal with the Bandits – opting instead to return to the Peoria Chiefs.   That move happened when the Chicago Cubs moved their Class A team affiliation to Kane County.

A rep from the Los Angeles Angels visited Modern Woodmen Park after the Cards announced their decision to change affiliate teams.

The Astros’ farm system reportedly had the best winning percentage of any of the 30 MLB teams with .546.
