Davenport School Board to Vote on Busing System Changes

The Davenport School board is expected to vote Monday on busing changes that could make children within two miles have to walk to school.

Davenport School Board will have a board meeting Monday evening at 7pm.  The board is expected to vote on the proposed changes to the busing system; a vote that could have your child walking up to 2 miles to and from school each day.

In order to cut $3 million from the budget for the 2013-2014 school year, administrators proposed extending the school walk zone to two miles and doing away with some after-school bus services.

Parents had a chance to give feedback last week when the district held a listening session where some parents questioned where their taxpayer dollars are going if not to help their students.

Tonight’s school board meeting held at the Davenport Schools Achievement Service Center on Brady Street.
