Corporal Bryant "B.J." Luxmore died in June 2012 while serving on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan. The 2005 Sherrard High School graduate was married and had a three-year-old son.
On Saturday, September 22nd, the Matherville Fire Department organized a fundraiser for the B.J Luxmore Memorial Fund and the Wounded Warriors project.
"[He was a] local hero," says David Flickinger, Matherville's Fire Chief. "We're kind of saluting our hometown heroes. That's what we're calling the event today."
The event included live music and a fun run. About 20 people participated in the ride, including the Patriot Guard.
