SHEBOYGAN FALLS — Two teenage boys accused of killing a 78-year-old Sheboygan Falls woman are now charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the case. They are 13-year-old Antonio Barbeau and 13-year-old Nathan Paape.

The 78-year-old victim in this case, now identified as Barbara Olson, was Barbeau’s great-grandmother. She was found on the floor her garage shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th.

The criminal complaint against the boys says on Monday, Paape’s mother took the two to Olson’s home on Westridge Dr. The boys apparently intended to kill and rob Barbeau’s great-grandmother.

When they entered the house, the complaint says Olson saw the boys and threatened to call Barbeau’s mother. The complaint says Barbeau then took out a hatchet and struck Olson with the blunt edge of the hatchet. The complaint indicates Paape then struck Olson twice with a hammer. And lastly, Barbeau then allegedly turned the hatchet around and struck the victim with the sharp edge of the hatchet.

According to the complaint, the boys then stole Olson’s car and took off. The complaint says the boys ate a pizza and then left some jewelry inside the car in public view. Their hope was that someone would steal the car and then be blamed for the murder.

Barbeau was a juvenile runaway and later turned himself in. Paape was questioned at him home and taken into custody.

The judge hearing the case set bond for each of the boys at $1 million.

Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco told reporters he’s never attempt to prosecute subjects so young.

The Department of Justice is assisting with the investigation.
