MidAmerican Energy plans to sample soil in Fremont County and Muscatine County this fall.

Officials say the three-year feasibility study will determine if those areas will turn into sites for a new development, possible a nuclear plant of natural gas plant.

Resident in Muscatine say they're excited about the possibility of new jobs being created, but some say there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered.

"I think some are going to be more concerned about long-term effects of what it could do to our agriculture, our residential areas, just the community itself," says Lori Easterla.

MidAmerican Energy Officials would not tell WQAD where in Muscatine County they're focusing on, but they're holding a private meeting for about 40 landowners sometime next week. They would also not tell WQAD when the meeting is, only that they'll be sampling soil in Fremont County and Muscatine County over the next couple months and decision on what will be built will be made next Fall, including where it will be built and when.
