Turnout is expected to be so large for an auction of property at Rita Crundwell’s ranch that shuttles and food vendors were arranged to accommodate the expected crowd.

The U.S. Marshall Service has contracted a professional auctioneer to auction items belonging to former Dixon, Illinois comptroller Rita Crundwell.

The auction is scheduled for Sunday and Monday, September 23 and 24, 2012 at the Crundwell ranch, 1556 Red Brick Road in Dixon.

Items to be auctioned include 400 horses and other property seized by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Proceeds will go to the city of Dixon to repay the $53 million Crundwell is accused of stealing from the city between 1990 and 2010.

Horse trailers may be dropped off between 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday, September 22 at the Lee County Business Park, 210 E. Progress Drive.  No shuttles will run that day.

Shuttles will run from that location and from an alternative horse trailer parking location at the Fargo Detention Facility, 1300 Chicago Avenue, starting at 7 a.m. Sunday and Monday, September 23 and 24.

Vehicle parking is available in various lots in downtown Dixon with a shuttle running from City Hall at 121 West Second Street both days.

On Sunday, vehicle parking and shuttle service will be available at the Borg Warner Lot, 1350 Franklin Grove Road; Edelmann Lott at 1550 Franklin Grove Road and from the Dixon Airport at 1650 Franklin Grove Road.

On Monday, vehicle parking and shuttle service will also be available at the Dixon Airport and Lee County Business Park.

Food Vendors will be available at the Crundwell ranch from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.

Crundwell  has pleaded not guilty in federal court to wire fraud.  An additional indictment filed in Lee County Circuit Court September 20 charged Crundwell with an additional 60 counts of theft.   She remained free on bond posted in connection with the federal indictment.
