Police say a man who ran from them ended up on the roof of a house, then he was injured when he tried to jump to get away.

The man is the suspect from a shooting that happened at about 10 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012.  A 21-year-old Davenport man told police he was smoking a cigarette on his front porch in the 400 block of East 8th Street when a car stopped in front of his house and the driver fired several shots at him.

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back in the 400 block of East 8th Street in Davenport.

Police later identified the suspect as 27-year-old Quinton Howard of Davenport.  When police spotted Howard Tuesday night, September 18 in the area of 5th and Marquette, he allegedly ran from them.

Police said Howard, who also goes by the alias of “Cabbage,” ended up on the roof of a house in the 400 block of Marquette.  Howard suffered minor injuries when he jumped from the roof in an effort to escape.

Howard was arrested.  He is charged with going armed with intent, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony assault.

Howard also had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear on unrelated charges.  Police said one of those warrants was in connection with a January 2012 incident in which Howard allegedly tried to run over the same man he allegedly shot September 1.   The other warrant was for failing to appear for sentencing for a domestic battery incident that also happened in January 2012.

Howard was held in the Scott County jail in lieu of $37,000 bond.
