Keokuk escapee captured

Police said a Fort Madison inmate who escaped from  a work detail in Keokuk, Iowa was caught in Missouri.

Steven Adcock was reported missing Monday, September 17, 2012.  He was serving a 16-year sentence for multiple counts including burglaries and thefts in several Iowa counties. 

The work detail in Keokuk involves two crews, made up of five inmates and one supervisor each, mowing and grounds keeping at cemeteries in Keokuk.   Prison work crews have been utilized in Keokuk for more than 15 years.

Adcock was allegedly driving a vehicle stolen from Kansas City, Missouri when he was spotted Wednesday, September 19.  Police said they arrested him after a short pursuit. 

Adcock was held in the Stoddard County Jail in southeastern Missouri.
