Iowa is back in the national spotlight this week as two political rivals make their way towards the battleground state.

On Monday, September 17th, Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan will be in Des Moines while Vice President Joe Biden stops in Burlington.

The riverfront community just north of the Quad Cities has been busy preparing for the visit. President Obama's campaign office in Burlington is making phone calls, knocking on doors, and passing out posters to let voters know about the event.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for entrance. One ticket per person will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

To pick up your ticket, visit one of the following campaign offices:

900 Osborn Street, Burlington, IA

827 Ave H, Fort Madison, IA

401 Main St, Keokuk, IA.

Burlington Mayor Jim Davidson says it's been awhile since anyone this big has been to his city, so they have a lot to prep for, too.

"It's exciting but of course it's a lot of work too," says Mayor Davidson. "The police department and the highway patrol are all in involved so there's a lot of things involved but certainty to bring attention to our beautiful little town is a nice thing."

Doors open at 1:00pm at The Port of Burlington, 400 North Front Street, Burlington, IA.

Vice President Biden is scheduled to visit Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, Iowa and Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa Tuesday, September 18.
