Homeless veterans in our area will have a place to sleep as the QCCA Expo Center will open their doors for the 12th Annual "Stand Down" event.

The Stand Down offers free medical care, food, showers, hair cuts, clothing and entertainment.  The event will also make available various agencies like social security, employment assistance and legal aid.

Registration is from 7am to noon on Friday, Sept 14th.  All participants must be registered by noon.  Veterans status will be verified at check in and only those verified are allowed to stay overnight.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that nearly 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night.  This event is an effort to give those in our area the care they need and deserve.

Event organizer Mike Malstrom says, "If we can help just one veteran, we have succeeded."
