A Dixon, Illinois woman previously charged with battery of her stepson is now charged with the child’s murder.
Tiffany Fassler, 36, is charged with one count of first-degree murder Thursday, September 13, 2012 in Lee County Court.
A previous complaint said on December 30, 2010, Fassler repeatedly kicked Colton Fassler, who was then six years old, in the chest and caused him to fall and hit his head on a bathroom vanity.
Colton was hospitalized for more than two months. The coroner’s inquest report said Colton regained the ability to breathe on his own but was capable of little other independent function. He was in and out of hospitals until he was found unresponsive in October 2011. After nearly two weeks of additional hospitalization, seven-year-old Colton Fassler died November 10, 2011.
His death was ruled a homicide.
Court records show Tiffany Fassler was charged with first-degree murder. She was held in the Lee County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
