The St. Louis Cardinals may soon be ending their eight-season affiliation with the Quad City River Bandits.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday: "The club [St. Louis Cardinals] is expected to announce today it will not renew its relationship with Class A Quad Cities and Batavia." A final decision was expected to be made by midnight on Wednesday.

Eight teams in the Midwest League have expired contracts right now. The Chicago Cubs are rumored to move their Class A team to Kane County next season and the St. Louis Cardinals' Class A may be taking their place in Peoria.

Rules prohibit the Quad City River Bandits' General Manager to talk about the rumors until Sunday, September 16th, which is the first day contract negotiations can begin with other baseball organizations.
