City officials announced Wednesday morning that the boil order issued in Fulton, Illinois has been lifted.

Original story Tuesday, September 11:

Residents in part of Fulton, Illinois were advised to boil water after a water main break there Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

The precautionary boil water order was issued after water service was turned off for areas south of 20th Avenue from Sixth Street to Fourth Street.

Public works crews will repair the broken water main.  The boil order will remain in effect after the repair and until testing shows the water is safe to drink.   The boil order is expected to be in effect until at least Wednesday afternoon and possibly longer.

Residents in the boil water area should boil water used for drinking and cooking for at least five minutes prior to use.
