The Rock Island Arsenal had a memorial walk in honor of those who lost their life due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the War on Terror since. Soldiers, members of other military services, and employees from the Rock Island Arsenal walked 3.25 miles with over 9000 flags. Each flag represents the more than 9000 people killed due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The walk started and ended at the Twin Towers Memorial on the Rock Island Arsenal. The flags were placed behind the towers, forming shadow.

A Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday afternoon. The guest speaker will be retired Brig. Gen. Brian Layer. Brig. Gen. Layer was at the Pentagon during the 9/11 attacks. Also in attendance will be Gold Star Families.

The ceremony will include the playing of taps by the St. Ambrose University band as well as a remembrance wreath dedication.
