Large part of Internet crippled by GoDaddy outage

Websites, phone services and email accounts hosted by GoDaddy were down Monday, September 10, 2012. 

TechCrunch reported someone identifies as AnonymousOwn3r claimed responsibility for the outage. reported GoDaddy is the world’s largest domain registrar and one of the biggest web hosts.  When GoDaddy’s DNS servers went down, that left thousands of websites inaccessible. 

GoDaddy tweeted it is “aware of the trouble people are having” with its site and that they were working on fixing the problem.

AnonymousOwn3r tweeted “I’m taking godaddy down bacause well i’d like to test how the cyber security is safe and for more reasons that i can not talk now.”
