A Rock Island woman was hospitalized after the car she was driving was reportedly hit by a deputy on his way to a call.

Iowa State Police said the crash happened at 53rd Avenue and Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf Saturday, September 8, 2012 just before 11 p.m.

The deputy was reportedly traveling eastbound on 53rd Avenue with emergency lights and siren activated on his vehicle.  When the deputy entered the intersection at Devils Glen Road, his car broad-sided  a northbound GMC Acadia.

The impact pushed the Acadia into a Honda minivan.  The Bettendorf woman driving the van was not injured.

The Acadia stopped on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of the intersection.   The driver, 44-year-old Dawn Swanson of Rock Island, Illinois, and a child in the vehicle were injured.  Both were wearing seat belts.
