ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Wyatt Erber is an excellent neighbor for only being eight years old. A few months back, Trisha Kielty took her two year old Cara to the hospital for what she thought was an earache.
“We all thought they’d be back in a couple of hours with some new medicine for Cara for her infection. It really floored us when we heard the words leukemia. It took all of our breath away,” said Wyatt’s mom, Noelle Erber.
That’s when Wyatt decided to enter a scavenger hunt that First Cloverleaf Bank of Edwardsville, Illinois was holding. He won $1,000.
“I heard that Cara had leukemia and they needed the money and I didn’t need the money. So, I wanted to give it to them,” said Wyatt Erber.
This third grader who loves soccer could have bought his own backyard stadium. But, this humble hero is helping the Kielty’s fight acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This type of cancer has a cure rate of about 90 percent.
