Investigators say a fire considered “suspicious in nature” destroyed a house in Burlington, Iowa.

The fire was reported just after 3 a.m. Thursday, August 30 in the 2200 block of South 10th Street.

Heavy fire was showing from the front of the two-story house when firefighters arrived.   Ten firefighters worked the blaze.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Burlington Fire Marshal Mark Crooks said the home is rented.  The house was insured, but the tenant’s contents were not insured.  The value of the house was estimated at $50,000.

No injuries were reported.
