Three people were arrested after a pursuit and two jewelry store burglaries in West Burlington, Iowa.

The Burlington Hawk Eye reports Riddles Jewelry and Kay Jewelry stores inside the Westland Mall were burglarized just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012.  Citizens and burglar alarms alerted police.

Police sent to the mall said they pursued a suspicious vehicle leaving the area.  The people inside the vehicle allegedly threw items taken in the burglaries out the car windows during the chase.  Police did not yet say what items were taken.

The chase went east on U.S. 34 into Illinois before it ended about a mile west of Monmouth.

Chanita Reid, 31, and Ramon Cook, 39, both from Michigan and Stanley Clark, 39, of Coralville, Iowa were arrested after the chase.   They were each charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

Investigators said they were also trying to determine whether similar crimes in other states were connected to the West Burlington burglaries.  Suspects broke windows to get into Riddles Jewelry stores in North Dakota and Nebraska.  High-value gold and silver necklaces and chains were taken in those crimes.

The suspects again reportedly broke windows to get into the mall and broke more windows to get into the stores.
