Local men sentenced for dealing marijuana in Davenport

Two Illinois men will spend time in a federal prison after they were convicted of conspiracy to distribute significant amounts of marijuana in Davenport, Iowa.

John Derek Smith, 37, of Rock Island was sentenced to 18 months in prison and Terry Lee Alvin, 43, of Moline was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

When they are released, each of the men will also serve three years of supervised release and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.

Both men were sentenced Friday, August 24, 2012.

Investigators said Smith and Alvin, along with several other people, were involved “in a conspiracy to distribute significant amounts of marijuana in the Davenport, Iowa area.”
