More than a quarter-million Energizer night lights are recalled because they can overheat and emit smoke.

The recalled lights are Energizer LED rotating night lights, model number NLPLROT.  The model number is stamped on the side of the night light.  Date codes on the recalled lights, stamped in a circle on the back of the night light, are between 0110 (for January 2010) through 0111 (for January 2011).

The recalled lights were sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide between February 2010 and July 2012 for about $6.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the company has received nine reports of the night lights overheating, including three reports of minor property damage.  About 260,000 night lights are involved in the recall.

No injuries were reported.

Consumers should unplug and stop using the recalled night lights.  You can return the recalled night lights for a $7 coupon toward the purchase of an Energizer product by contacting Energizer at (800) 383-7323 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday, or online at www.energizer.com.
