Rock Island city officials say they’ll give away free bricks as a remembrance of the former Lincoln School.

Citizens have reportedly been requesting the bricks since before demolition began on the building Thursday, August 16, 2012.

They’re asking residents to observe a limit of one free brick per person.

The bricks will be available Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 22nd Street in Rock Island.  If you’re traveling in that area, 22nd Street is closed between Sixth and Seventh avenues until demolition is complete.
