The upcoming trial of accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley may be delayed again.
Sheley, 33, is supposed to stand trial for the murder of Russell Reed in Whiteside County in September. Defense attorney Jeremy Karlin however, has filed a motion to continue the case, because of a delay with DNA evidence.
A hearing on the motion is set for Friday in Morrison.
Prosecutors say Sheley stole Mr. Reed's car, cash, and within hours after the murder, showed up covered in blood at his cocaine dealer's house, and joked that he had just killed someone.
Sheley has already been convicted of murder in Knox County In all, he's accused of slaying 8 people, including a two year old boy during a drug- fueled spree in June of 2008.
