Pleasant Valley bans grinding at dances

Schools across the country – and in our area – are cracking down on the way kids dance at school events.

Schools across the country are cracking down on the way kids dance at school events.

Pleasant Valley High School Principal Mike Zimmer says chaperones and teachers will be on “Grind Patrol” at school dances this year.

One warning, then you’re out.

Schools in other areas of the country have reportedly cancelled dances, and some students in other cities have held protests against policies that ban grinding.

The dispute isn’t quite so dramatic so far at Pleasant Valley.

Some students at Pleasant Valley say it’s common at every school.  Some others support the ban, saying grinding can be over the top.

“We’re saying what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate, and we’re not going to allow it to continue,” Zimmer said.
