"Third Time's The Charm" and on Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 that phrase could not be further from the truth.

Officials with the John Deere Classic's Birdies for Charity Program returned to TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois on Tuesday to give away a 2013 Chevy Malibu to one of its donors.

Five finalists, who guessed the exact number of birdies shot at the 2012 John Deere Classic (2,113), each had the chance to turn a different ignition key. The correct key was in the hands of Donna Piatt, of Davenport. She was the third finalist to try her luck after the first two keys failed to start the engine. Donna's charity of choice is the St. Alphonsus Church School in Davenport.

Kristy Ketcham Jackson, Director of Birdies for Charity, says this year's program was even more successful than last year. In 2011, the program broke a record by raising $5.3 million for around 500 charities throughout the region. This year's total will be revealed in late October/early November.
