The Better Business Bureau is cautioning collectors that a Bettendorf, Iowa company specializing in collectibles has received their lowest rating due to consumer complaints.

Global Authority has an “F” rating with the BBB “due to failure to respond to complaints, many of which are considered serious in nature,” said a statement from the Better Business Bureau

Customers are complaining that the company refuses to return trading cards submitted for authentication and grading.   Customers say they are unable to reach anyone at Global Authority for assistance.

“We are committed to providing our clients professional service, rapid communication and the best authenticated and graded products on the market,” says the Global Authority website.

“One of our core assets is our communication with our customers,” the site says.  “We are the only company which responds to emails over the weekend, giving the fastest response time available. When choosing a company, it begins with consistent communication to establish a long-term customer relationship.”

The Better Business Bureau says it has received more than 100 inquiries about Global Authority and closed 21 complaints against the company in the past year.

The company’s website says it is located at 2884 Devils Glen Rd. #388 in Bettendorf, Iowa.  The company has been in business since 2009.   Prices for their services range from free to more than $100 and customers are required to create an account using a credit card number.

Because personal collections have monetary and sentimental value, the BBB says you should try to find a local company when searching for an authentication service so you can avoid the inherent risk taken by sending valuables through the mail.  If you mail items, keep a detailed inventory of what you send and insure the package and get delivery confirmation.  Be sure your items are covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy in case they are not returned.  In addition, look for companies with a good reputation in the industry.
