The Scott County Republican Party is pretty busy these days, and things are even busier now that Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has announced he'll be stopping in Bettendorf on Wednesday.

"Governor Romney wants to talk about the fact that if you build a small business, that you are the one responsible for building that small business, and not the government," says Judy Davidson, chairwoman of the Scott County Republican Party.

During the pre-planning stages Romney's campaign made one thing certain: they wanted to visit a successful local company, a place like LeClaire Manufacturing.

"That was a business that was built by the company's owners and by the company itself. Not the government, so that was part of why that location was chosen," says Davidson.

It's estimated there will be about 500 tickets available for Wednesday's visit. It'll be Romney's second stop to Scott County in the last three months.

Local political leaders say it’s all just more proof that our area will play a big role in picking the next President of the United States.

"Not only have we been saying that for a while now that Scott County will be pivotal in this election but now the candidates are realizing that. We're getting a much greater response even in the last he was here in LeClaire Park because the campaign is that much further along," says Davidson.
