Arrests made in Annawan bank and ATM thefts

Police say they arrested two people in connection with the theft of a bank safe and an ATM in Annawan, Illinois.

Thieves  reportedly broke into the Annawan branch of the Peoples National Bank August 13, 2012 by cutting a hole in the side of the building.  

Someone took the ATM from the Annawan Shell Express convenience store June 26, 2012.

Investigators said they executed search warrants Friday, August 17, 2012 at two locations and found evidence during those searches that led to two arrests.

Robert Lambert, 30, of Kewanee, Illinois and Robert Zais, 26, of Tampico, Illinois were both arrested in connection with the case.

Online court records show Lambert and Zais each face three counts of felony burglary and four counts of felony theft.   Both men made their first appearance in court Monday, August 20, 2012 where they were each appointed a public defender. 

Lambert and Zais were each held in lieu of $500,000 bond.  Both men are scheduled to appear in Henry County court August 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
