One dead in Iowa City drug investigation

UPDATED: An undercover investigation ended with a shooting that killed one person and injured another in Iowa City, Iowa.

An undercover investigation ended with a shooting that killed one person and injured another in Iowa City, Iowa.

State Police said two agents with the Johnson County Drug Task Force Division of Narcotics Enforcement were working undercover at Breckenridge Trailer Court, 4494 Taft Avenue at about 7 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012. 

During the course of their work, an altercation happened that led to shots fired at trailer 7C.  Police did not say who fired the shots. 

The two DNE agents were not hurt.  One suspect was fatally wounded, and another was taken to an area hospital for treatment after the shooting.

The day after the shooting, police identified the man killed as 24-year-old Ivan Carl Hardemon.  The injured man is 22-year-old Demarco Dudley. 

Police said they are searching for 20-year-old Norman Dudley and 20-year-old John Mulbah, who were both believed to be at or near the scene of the shooting when it happened.  Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps investigators find the two men.   Calls to them can be anonymous at (319) 358-8477.
