A former Muscatine, Iowa man will spend up to 21 years in prison for depriving two children of food and medical care.

Joseph Titus, 24, was living with a woman and her two small children when the abuse occurred.  Titus reportedly assaulted the mother and withheld food and medical care from the children.  One of the children was a three-year-old, the other child was 18 months old.

“This case was a classic example of abusive behavior inflicted on this woman and her children. I am pleased that the Court imposed the sentence we requested and believe that justice was done,” said Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren.

Titus was convicted of two counts of child endangerment causing injury and one count of domestic abuse assault.  He was sentenced Friday, August 17, 2012 to a total prison term not to exceed 21 years in prison.
