A Union Pacific employee died after he was reportedly hit by a semi trailer.
SaukValley.com reports Loren Daswood of Red Rock, New Mexico was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after if happened at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
The trailer, used to haul heavy equipment, was reportedly backing up when it hit Daswood.
Daswood was part of a crew working on a round-the-clock project to replace 22 miles of rail between Nelson and Manlius, Illinois in Whiteside County. He was struck as he worked near County Line and Cooper roads, south of Rock Falls.
The incident was reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
