Man killed in Clinton County wreck

A North Liberty, Iowa man died after he lost control of his car on Highway 30 near DeWitt.

A North Liberty, Iowa man died after he lost control of his car on Highway 30 near DeWitt. 

Police were sent to the crash, at the 314 mile marker east of DeWitt, just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012.

Michael Walton, 48, was westbound on Highway 30 when he lost control of his 2011 Nissan passenger car. 

Walton’s car struck a westbound truck.  Walton’s car then went into the median and rolled several times, crossing the eastbound lanes of Highway 30 before coming to rest in a ditch. 

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  

 The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man from Goose Lake, did not report any injuries.

The police report said Walton was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
