Area TV stations operating on reduced power

WQAD-TV announced that it will be operating at reduced power much of the week of August 13, 2012 as tower crews work add another station to the Orion facility.

WQAD-TV is operating at reduced power much of the week of August 13, 2012 as tower crews work add another station to the Orion facility.

WQAD and other Quad Cities television stations will be affected by the work and will be operating at reduced power from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. most of the week of August 13 – 17. The hours may vary each day due to the weather, but all normal operation will resume at 4:00 p.m. each day.

Original plans called for an on-air shutdown Saturday and Sunday, August 18 and 19.  Tower work crews have determined that shutdown is not necessary, but we will continue to broadcast at reduced power those days.  Plans are for all stations to be operating at full power by 2:00 p.m. each of those two days.

Most cable, satellite and off-air viewers will  not notice the reduced power levels.

We apologize for this brief reduction of our services.
