President Barack Obama will visit Davenport as part of a three-day tour of Iowa the week of August 13, 2012.

The visits were announced Tuesday, August 7, 2012 by the Obama-Biden campaign.

President Obama was scheduled to visit Council Bluffs and Boone on Monday, August 13.  He was scheduled to hold campaign events in Oskaloosa, Marshalltown and Waterloo the next day.

First Lady Michelle Obama is expected to join the president for campaign events in Dubuque and Davenport on Wednesday, August 15.  The Dubuque event is scheduled to start at 12:25 p.m. local time at Alliant Energy Amphitheater in Dubuque.   The Davenport event is scheduled for 5:25 p.m. local time at the intersection of East 11th and Christie streets in the Village of East Davenport.

Tickets to the Davenport event were free and had all been distributed before noon Monday according to a spokesperson for the Obama campaign.

A spokesman for the Davenport Police Department said anyone attending the Wednesday event could expect numerous streets to be closed before noon.  That will mean detours for traffic in the area.  Parking in the area will be limited and “walking for some distance may be necessary.”
