Pair busted after deal to sell phony crack cocaine

Police say an undercover drug buy led to the arrest of two men in Sterling, Illinois.   

Sterling, Illinois Police said they conducted a buy and bust operation at about 9:45 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 in the 900 block of West Ninth Street.   An agent of the Sterling Police bought about 13 grams of a substance that was supposed to be crack cocaine from 33-year-old Terrance Wyre of Chicago.

Wyre was then arrested and booked into the Whiteside County Jail.  He is charged with felony unlawful delivery of a look-alike substance.  Police said Wyre also had outstanding warrants in Whiteside and Jo Daviess counties for failure to appear on a driving while revoked charge.

Brian King, 23, of Rock Falls, was allegedly at the house when the undercover drug deal happened.  King was arrested for a Lee County, Illinois warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.  He was taken to the Lee County Jail where he was held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
