Police said they found a man missing for nearly 24 hours after he was involved in a head-on crash in Carroll County.

Montero Badera-Aguilar was found in a cornfield north of Thomson, Illinois at about 12:39 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 according to a statement from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department. 

Police said Baedera-Aguilar had extensive injuries when he was found.  He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Police said they were searching for a man involved in a head-on crash that killed a second driver in Carroll County, Illinois.

The wreck happened just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 on Illinois Route 84 north of Three Mile Road.

Eighty-year-old Earl Lashelle of Savanna, Illinois died of injuries he suffered when his car cross ed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle.

Police think the second vehicle was driven by 27-year-old Montero Badera-Aguilar.  He was last seen on foot entering a corn field near an area known as Krazy Acres. 

Police said they spent nearly eight hours searching for Badera-Aguilar.  State Police, K-9 search dogs, horses, aircraft and officers from four sheriff’s departments and five cities were involved in the search.
