Ready-to-eat salads and dips that might contain listeria-contaminated onions are being recalled.

Among the recalled brands are Market Pantry and Archer Farms deli salads, sold at Target stores.

The salads are being voluntarily recalled and no illnesses have been reported.   Not all Target stores carried the recalled items or recalled date codes.

On July 31, a voluntary recall was issued for various ready-to-eat products that might contain onions from Gills Onions company.  The onions may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.  Listeria can cause serious and sometimes-fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The affected products were distributed in Iowa and Illinois as well as in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona and California.
