A Vision For The Village of East Davenport

Consultants are helping Davenport officials create a plan for the Village of East Davenport.

The Village of East Davenport, like many spots in the Quad Cities, is a mix of old and new... but how do you balance history with opportunities to grow?

Consultants with Winter and Company out of Boulder, Colorado are in the Quad Cities this week, helping Davenport's Economic Development Department create a strategic plan for the next generation of residents, shoppers, and business owners in the Village.

Senior Planning Manager, Matt Flynn, says the goal is to showcase the area's history while bringing new and unique things to the neighborhood that people can get excited about. Flynn and his team are looking for input from the community during a public meeting Tuesday, August 7th from 6pm-8pm at the Village Theatre, 2113 E. 11th Street.

"It's the community's plan and it's more important that a variety of opinions come together to help build this," says Flynn. "Historic preservation is a real asset for the whole Quad City area. It's an economic development engine and we need to capitalize on that."

After brainstorming this week, the consulting team will be back in Davenport for another workshop in September to start discussing possible designs.
