X-Stream Clean-Up is Saturday, August 11th, but organizers with "Living Lands and Waters" were already getting their message out early in the week.

On Monday, August 6th, teachers from around the Quad Cities gathered in the floating classroom on the organization's 150-foot long barge, located near the Lake Davenport Sailing Club. The instructors spent the entire day on the barge learning about all things to do with the river, pollution, biology, and more.

"Living Lands and Waters" has brought 1,800 educators into its floating classroom for the workshops, which also go on Tuesday. Later in August, high school students from the area will be able to experience the barge themselves for the first time.

"The river has been a really big part of my life and to expose different students, different people to the river and aspects they haven't seen or covered or been a part of is a good thing so it just adds to our mission of cleaning up rivers," says Chad Pregracke, Founder of "Living Lands and Waters" and a Quad City Native.

Organizers say they are still looking for volunteers for this Saturday. If you are interested, you can register online at www.livinglandsandwaters.org
