A sheriff’s deputy was hurt when his squad car collided with a deer near the Henderson County Covered Bridge.

The crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012. 

The deputy was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 164 when his car hit a deer as he approached the covered bridge. 

Deputy Bradley Mowen, 26, of Stronghurst, Illinois suffered minor injuries in the crash. 

The crash report said there was major damage to the front end of his 2005 Crown Victoria squad car and that the air bag deployed during the crash.

The deputy was transported to a hospital in Burlington for treatment of his injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.
