Marvin Wagle of Galesburg, Illinois was honored for diligent DUI enforcement and professional service to our area when he was recognized as Officer of the Year.

Trooper Wagle serves in State Police District 7, based in East Moline, Illinois.  The district covers Knox, Henry, Mercer and Rock Island counties.

“He was the second leading officer in DUI arrests for the Department and held the sixth position within the state,” said a spokesperson for District 7.

Trooper Wagle is also part of the Illinois State Police Region II Crowd Control Team and participated in the NATO summit security detail this past May.   He is also on the District 7 Road Safety Assessment Team, which determines whether any roadway, sign or patrol changes can be made at locations of fatal crashes.

“Trooper Wagle is everything we could ask for in a trooper,” states Lieutenant Robert Atherton. “Even with this fantastic honor he remains very humble, does not look for recognition and will continue to perform to the highest standard. He gives 100% day in and day out, and we are proud to have him serving the communities of District 7.”

WGIL Radio reports Wagle says he is simply doing his job.

“There’s no quota. I just enjoy doing it, keeping impaired drivers off the road, and keeping the motoring public safe,” said Wagle.
