A Maquoketa, Iowa man will spend more than 15 years in federal prison after he confessed to manufacturing methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Randall Shady, 32, bought pseudoephedrine to make methamphetamine from August 2010 through September 2011. Shady admitted that the weekend after he was charged in that case, he made meth again. That time it happened within 1,000 feet of a park in Maquoketa.
Shady pleaded guilty to one count of possession of pseudoephedrine knowing it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine, and one count of manufacturing and attempting to manufacture methamphetamine while on pretrial release.
Shady was sentenced Tuesday, July 31, 2012 to 15 years and eight months in federal prison. He will also have to pay a $200 fine and serve six years of supervised release after he gets out of prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
